Barefoot bar and grill

The Barefoot Bar and Grill is located in Vacation Village, tucked away on gentle Mission Bay in the heart of San Diego. The restaurant was the location of this sketch done in pen and watercolor.

Chess Set at the Nursery

There is a huge cement chess set at the Myrtle Creek Nursery in Fallbrook where the San Diego Urban Sketchers met today. This is my ink sketch of the set.

Westfield Mall Food Court, San Diego

The food court has changed.. A LOT. It seems to seat more people and has a little area that looks cozy with plants and nice chairs.

This is a snack stand I sketched while on an outing with the San Diego Sketch Crawlers.

Obon Festival, Vista, California

The Obon Festival was held this weekend at the Vista Buddhist Temple. Several Urban Sketchers met to draw the activities and had a challenge with the rapidly moving Taiko Drummers from UC Irvine. One of our urban sketchers, Carol Bonomo  was our hostess and event coordinator of the festival. Rachel Kopel, another urban sketcher gave demonstrations on Etegami in the cultural center.

Lindo Lake Park, Lakeside, CA

Two San Diego Urban Sketchers met at Lindo Lake Park in Lakeside this morning. There were plenty of things to draw, mostly people walking their dogs, children playing and people fishing. We chose to sketch the lake, ducks and squirrels.

Leo Carrillo Ranch, Carlsbad, CA

The San Diego Urban Sketchers Meetup group met at the Leo Carrillo Ranch today.
This ranch is a former working ranchero once owned by Leo Carrillo, an actor who appeared in the tv series Cisco Kid. We had the chance to sketch any adobe buildings, windmills and about 2 dozen peacocks roaming the grounds.

Lake San Marcos, California

The San Deigo Urban Sketchers MeetUp group met at Lake San Marcos today. It was quiet and peaceful sketching the lake as the ducks and swans played in the water in front of us. There was a great view of houses and boats surrounded by palm trees across the lake .
