SDUsk Attends the Rendezvous in Poway 2019


The City of Poway, along with the living history groups the Shadow River Regulators, and the Apache Canyon Gang, presented the annual Rendezvous at Old Poway Park. 10 x 10 San Diego Call for Instructors

10 x 10 San Diego in 2020



USk San Diego 10 x 10 Call For Instructors
Join us in beautiful San Diego in 2020 for our first 10 x10 Workshop Series when we will present 10 workshops by 10 instructors. Workshops will be held in San Diego (outdoor location to be determined) during May, June and July 2020. Instructor's proposals will be accepted during the months of September and October 2019 and will be reviewed by the 10 x 10 Committee which is comprised of 3 San Diego Urban Sketchers. The selection of instructors will be based on providing a wide range of topics to our students. Selected instructors will be notified by email mid-November 2019.  Please submit your workshop proposal to Lydia Velarde at zipchips@gmail.com. Include the following in your proposal:
·       Name
·       Address
·       Email
·       Phone number
·       Class Title
·       A paragraph of class description and what students will learn
·       Minimum class size (Maximum class size is 15 students)
·       Preferred dates (Lodging/Transportation to and from San Diego is not provided)
·       Image of instructor and image of a sketch related to the class subject

Other: Registration will be handled by the instructor. Upon acceptance, instructors will provide a bio, class registration method, refund policy, and supply list. All classes will be $55 and last 3 hours. Publicity will be by approved PDF created by San Diego Urban Sketchers or Instructor. Social media advertising will be posted by both San Diego Urban Sketchers and the instructor.  Instructors will donate 10% of proceeds to Urban Sketchers. Questions? The Urban Sketchers YouTube Channel would like to feature individual urban sketchers or chapters sharing their answer to What type of sketchbook so you use for Urban Sketching? We are requesting answers submitted in video format for our YouTube Channel. These do not have to be professional videos and can be videos taken with your phone!
Guidelines: Please submit anytime during the month of September 2019. We prefer very short videos (2-3 minutes for a group). By submitting your video you give permission to have it edited and/or combined with other submissions if necessary. MPEG4 OR .mp4 file extension, steady camera, clear, intelligible voice, little to no background noise, no advertisements. To submit your video for consideration please send via We Transfer to Lydia Velarde at video@urbansketchers.org. I am looking forward to viewing and sharing answers on the Urban Sketchers YouTube Channel!

Plaza de Panama - San Diego Urban Sketchers 2019


Rachel shares her favorite pen and Renata shows us her handmade sketchbook and paint pallet. Maria visited from Australia and Serena practiced her guitar during our 2-hour event at Plaza de Panama in Balboa Park. Plaza de Panama is in the middle of Balboa Park and surrounded by beautiful Spanish Colonial Revival Architecture.

Los Rios Historic District - Urban Sketchers 2019





Shiho Nakaza and Debbie Thornhill organized our 3rd Annual Urban Sketching Event at Lost Rios Street, San Juan Capistrano. In attendance were members of Los Angeles Urban Sketchers, San Diego Urban Sketchers, San Clemente Urban Sketchers, and The Long Beach Sketching Meet Up. This video shows the artists, their sketches and a bit of the Los Rios Historic District.
